This hiking route, known as the Ciaran path, takes you through a beautiful area with stunning natural landscapes. The route is an out-and-back type, spanning a distance of approximately 6.1 kilometers with an elevation gain of 105 meters, making it of moderate difficulty.
As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area right at the beginning of the trail. About 300 meters into the hike, you will find the Blackwater Campsite, where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Along the way, there are picnic sites and a restaurant, the Tailrace Inn, where you can refuel and relax.
As you continue on the trail, approximately 1.58 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a water source, perfect for filling up your water bottles. Further ahead at around 3.06 kilometers, you will be treated to a picturesque waterfall, adding to the charm of the hike.
At the 3.7-kilometer mark, there are information points where you can learn more about the area and its history. Lastly, at around 6 kilometers, you will reach a viewpoint overlooking the Glencoe Valley, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
