Located in the beautiful high Tatras mountains, the hiking route to Skalnaté pleso offers stunning alpine views and a challenging trek for outdoor enthusiasts. The 9.546-kilometer trail with an elevation gain of 860 meters is classified as difficult, so hikers should be prepared for a strenuous workout.
Starting at Buková Hora parking area, you will pass by several points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find the Encián alpine hut where you can take a break and refuel before continuing your journey. As you make your way towards Skalnatá chata, you'll have the opportunity to visit Relax park jazierko, a wheelchair-accessible restaurant with outdoor seating.
Midway through the hike, you'll reach Skalnaté pleso, a picturesque mountain lake where you can rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Nearby, you'll also find the Observatórium Skalnaté pleso, an astronomical observatory that offers a unique perspective of the area.
