The Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail is an extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route that covers a distance of approximately 22.8 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1083 meters. The trail offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Hohe Tauern mountain range.
Starting at the Alpengasthof Liebenberg, hikers will pass by a bench at 0.65 kilometers into the hike, providing a nice spot for a quick rest. Along the way, there are multiple water sources for refilling water bottles, with the first one located just 0.05 kilometers from the start. As you continue on, you will encounter more benches for taking breaks and enjoying the scenery.
Around the midway point of the hike, at approximately 11.4 kilometers, there are several more water sources available. Hikers can also opt to visit the Lamperbichlkogel peak, located off the main trail. However, be prepared for a slight detour as it is not directly on the trail.
At the end of the trail, hikers will have completed a challenging but rewarding journey through the stunning Hohe Tauern region. It is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure.
