This hiking route takes you through the beautiful Barranco de San Juan area, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. The total distance of the hike is 14.151 kilometers with an elevation gain of 625 meters, making it extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
Starting at the Barranco de San Juan parking area, you'll begin your journey towards the Mesón Barranco de San Juan restaurant, located just 12.58 meters from the trailhead. As you progress, you'll pass by the Refugio de la Cucaracha alpine hut, situated 7.08 kilometers into the hike, providing a great rest stop for hikers.
Along the way, you'll also come across the ruins at a distance of 4.71 kilometers from the start, adding a historic touch to your adventure. Make sure to check out the various viewpoints such as Mirador de las Nortes and other scenic spots that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
As this is an out-and-back route, you'll retrace your steps back to the starting point after reaching the Refugio de la Cucaracha destination.
