This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route takes you through the breathtaking landscape of Levada do Caldeirão Verde in Santana. The 13.789-kilometer trail boasts an elevation gain of 1563 meters and is estimated to take around 7 hours to complete.
Starting off, you'll encounter several points of interest along the way. At just 0.04 kilometers from the start, you'll find a cafe where you can grab a quick bite. Further ahead, at 0.67 kilometers, there is a stunning viewpoint perfect for birdwatching.
As you continue, the trail will lead you to various water points, with the first one located at 0.09 kilometers. Make sure to stay hydrated and refill your water bottles at these stops.
