Welcome to the hiking route to Achselkopf!

This challenging out-and-back trail covers a distance of 8.427 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1020 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding hike. The estimated duration for this hike is around 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The trail begins at the parking area near Werfener Eisriesenwelt, a famous ice cave that you can visit before starting your hike. As you make your way along the trail, you will pass by several points of interest. About 0.95 kilometers from the start, you'll find the Wimmerhütte restaurant where you can take a break and refuel.

Continuing on, at approximately 2.9 kilometers from the start, you'll reach Dr. Oedl Haus, another restaurant where you can stop for a meal or snack. Further along the trail, at 3.3 kilometers from the start, you'll come across Eisriesenwelt, the largest ice cave in the world open to the public.

At the midway point of the trail, around 4.21 kilometers from the start, you'll find the Achselkopf peak, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. There are also benches and viewpoints along the way where you can rest and take in the scenery.
