This extremely difficult 12.5-kilometer out-and-back hiking route will take you to Mount Jaithmathang, starting from the destination named after the mountain itself. The trail begins with a serene walk around Pretty Valley Pondage, offering beautiful views of the water and the surrounding natural landscape. As you continue on the trail, you will pass by Tawonga Huts about 4.2 kilometers from the start, providing a picturesque resting spot for hikers.

Further along the route, at about 2.6 kilometers from the beginning, you will come across the Memorial Cairn, a historic landmark worth exploring. The trail then ascends towards Mount Jaithmathang, with the peak located about midway at 6.3 kilometers from the start. Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness.

Hikers should be prepared for a challenging trek, as the route includes an elevation gain of 451 meters. It is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear.
