Welcome to the Cuyalar Couscouilla hiking route, a challenging 13.5-kilometer circular trail that offers stunning views and diverse landscapes.
Starting at the designated parking area, you will begin your journey towards the first point of interest, the Port de Castet, located just 0.02 kilometers from the start. This spot provides a great vantage point to admire the surrounding beauty before continuing on the trail.
As you make your way through the rugged terrain, you will encounter the Cabane de Couscouilha wilderness hut at the 3.42-kilometer mark. This unguarded refuge offers a peaceful resting place amid the wilderness, perfect for a quick break before pushing forward.
Around the midway point of the hike, at approximately 6.72 kilometers from the start, you will come across a refreshing water source, ideal for refilling your bottles and re-energizing for the second half of the trek.
Throughout the hike, you will face a total elevation gain of 658 meters, making it an extremely challenging route that requires good physical condition and proper gear. Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection, as well as checking the weather forecast before setting out.
