This challenging hiking route will take you to the beautiful area of Punta di Castellaccio. The trail is an out-and-back type, spanning a distance of 8.135 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1044 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, there are parking spaces available for your convenience. You'll find Monumento ai Caduti della Prima Guerra Mondiale nearby, a historic monument to honor fallen soldiers.
Further along the trail, at around 2.6 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a couple of water sources, providing a refreshing stop for hikers. Lago del Monticello is also located at a distance of 2.9 kilometers from the starting point, offering a picturesque view of a serene lake.
As you continue onward, Rifugio Passo Paradiso will be situated at 2.65 kilometers from the start, providing a cozy alpine hut for a rest or a quick meal. Passo del Monticello and Passo del Dito, both saddles, are notable points along the trail that offer stunning panoramic views.
Towards the end of the hike, at approximately 4.07 kilometers from the start, you will reach the peak of Punta di Castellaccio, a rewarding summit that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
