This extremely difficult 16.778-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through the scenic area surrounding Frog Pond. With an elevation gain of 365 meters, this trail is not for the faint of heart.
As you start your hike, you'll come across the Thumper Mountain information sign about 4.12 kilometers into the trail. Continuing on, you'll reach the Mahican-Mohawk Trail information point at the 3.67-kilometer mark. As you make your way through the challenging terrain, be sure to take a moment to appreciate the Hail to the Sunrise memorial at the 0.81-kilometer point.
Along the route, you'll find shelters and camping areas for those looking to spend the night. The Great Pines Camping Area is located 4.71 kilometers into the hike, offering a convenient resting spot for weary travelers.
For those in need of refreshment, there are water sources available at various points along the trail. Be sure to fill up your water bottle at Frog Pond, located 7.9 kilometers into the hike.
As you near the end of the hike, you'll pass by the Day Use Area picnic site at the 4.85-kilometer mark. Finally, as you return to the starting point, take a moment to enjoy the beautiful scenery and reflect on the challenging journey you've just completed.
