The Lienzer Höhenweg is a challenging hiking route that spans approximately 7.6 kilometers and includes an elevation gain of 500 meters. The duration of the hike is around 3 hours, making it a full morning or afternoon activity. The trail begins at the picturesque Faschingalm parking area, where hikers can leave their vehicles before embarking on their journey.

As you make your way along the trail, approximately 0.9 kilometers from the start, you will come across the Naturfreundehütte Vinzenz Biedner alpine hut. This rustic accommodation option is open from June to October and during the winter season from December to Easter. It is a great spot to take a break, enjoy some refreshments, and soak in the stunning alpine views.

Further along the trail, at a distance of 3.79 kilometers from the start, you will find a natural water source, perfect for refilling your water bottle and taking a moment to rest and rejuvenate. Additionally, there is a restaurant, Faschingalm, just a short distance from the trail at around 0.17 kilometers, where you can indulge in a hearty meal before continuing your hike.

The Lienzer Höhenweg is an out-and-back route, meaning that you will retrace your steps to return to the starting point. It is important to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear, as the trail can be quite challenging due to its length and elevation gain.
