This extremely difficult circular hiking route at Fernaujoch covers a distance of 13.435 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1277 meters, taking approximately 6 hours and 18 minutes to complete.
The trail starts at Parkplatz Dresdner Hütte/Wilde Gruabe, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on this challenging adventure. As you begin your journey, the Dresdner Hütte, an alpine hut, will be a welcoming sight just 2.85 kilometers into the hike. Feel free to stop here and refuel before continuing on.
As you make your way further along the trail, you'll come across the Fernaustadl bar at the same distance point, offering a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy some refreshments. Continuing onwards, at 6.71 kilometers, you'll reach the Fernaujoch, a saddle and viewpoint where you can pause to take in the breathtaking scenery.
The route also features the Zollhütte wilderness hut, which is located 2.85 kilometers from the start but slightly off the trail. If you're looking for a place to stay overnight, the Zollhütte could be a good option.
