Welcome to Freingrabenweg, a challenging 12.4-kilometer circular hiking route with an elevation gain of 781 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, you will come across a parking area conveniently located right at the beginning of the trail. As you make your way through the path, about 5.6 kilometers in, you will find a refreshing water source to fill up your bottles. At only 50 meters from the start, you'll encounter a historic wayside cross, adding a touch of local heritage to your journey.
Further along the trail, at a distance of 4.2 kilometers from the start, another wayside cross will greet you, providing a picturesque spot for a brief rest. However, be mindful that a drinking water spot lies off the trail at 5.2 kilometers, so be sure to fill up before continuing on your journey.
For those who are interested in exploring a bit off the main path, about 3.9 kilometers into the hike, you will find the entrance to Gaisstiegelschacht cave. This natural wonder is a bit off the trail but worth the extra effort for the adventurous hiker.
