Welcome to the Gertrude Saddle Route in Fiordland Community. This stunning hiking trail covers a distance of 5.239 kilometers with an elevation gain of 185 meters, making it a moderate difficulty level hike that would take approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete.

As you begin your journey, you will come across a parking area conveniently located at the start of the trail. This is a perfect spot to leave your vehicle before embarking on the hike. About 70 meters into the hike, you will find the Homer Hut, a wilderness accommodation where hikers can rest and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Approximately 50 meters from the trail, you will encounter a climbing area ideal for adventure enthusiasts looking for an additional challenge. Further along the route, at a distance of 2.62 kilometers from the start, you will be mesmerized by a beautiful waterfall, a perfect spot to take in the picturesque views and snap some photos.

It is recommended to bring an ample supply of water, especially during warmer months, as well as to check the weather forecast before setting out on this hike.
