This extremely difficult hiking route will take you to the breathtaking Monte San Petrone area. With a total distance of 15.305 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1121 meters, this challenging hike will test your endurance and provide stunning views along the way.
Starting at the designated parking area, you will pass by a shelter named Favalta early on in the hike at around 5.39 kilometers from the start. This will be a good spot to rest and take in the surroundings before continuing on the trail. As you progress, you will encounter a drinking water point at 0.11 kilometers from the start, providing a much-needed refreshment stop.
Further along the trail, at approximately 1.97 kilometers from the start, you will come across the ruins of the ancient Église Saint-Nicolas, adding a historical element to your hike. Continuing onwards, at 5.33 kilometers from the start, you will reach the spring named Favalta, offering a scenic spot to replenish your water supply.
The highlight of the hike is reaching the peak of Monte San Petrone at 7.65 kilometers from the start. Here, you can take in panoramic views of the surrounding area and capture memorable photos. On your way back, make sure to visit the viewpoint at 0.03 kilometers from the start, which provides a different perspective of the landscape.
Throughout the hike, be sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen, as well as check the weather forecast before setting out. As this is an extremely difficult trail, proper hiking gear and physical preparation are essential.
