This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking trail will take you to the stunning Windischkopf peak in the beautiful alpine region. The route covers a distance of 12.6 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1020 meters, making it a challenging adventure for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will come across the picturesque Zaunersee at around 3.32 kilometers from the trailhead. This tranquil water body provides a perfect spot to rest and take in the surrounding natural beauty. Further along the trail, at 3.2 kilometers from the start, you will find the Franz-Fischer-Hütte alpine hut, offering a cozy accommodation option for hikers.
Around the midway point of the hike, at approximately 5.26 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the Windischscharte saddle, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Continuing onwards, at 6.3 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Windischkopf peak, where you can marvel at the panoramic vistas from the summit.
