This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area of Crête NW Grand Colon. The trail is 9.532 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 836 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 4 hours and 17 minutes to complete.
You will start your journey at the parking area located at the trailhead. Make sure to bring plenty of water and check the weather forecast before heading out.
As you make your way along the trail, you will come across several points of interest. About 1.73 kilometers from the start, you will find a drinking water point for refilling your water bottles. Further along, at 3.97 kilometers from the start, you will encounter Lac Merlat, a picturesque lake perfect for a rest stop and some beautiful views.
At the 1.7-kilometer mark, you will reach Baraque du Colon, a wilderness hut where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Nearby, at 4.77 kilometers from the start, there is another water point for your convenience.
On your way back, around 3.7 kilometers into the trail, a viewpoint offers stunning panoramic views of the area. Additionally, at 2.52 kilometers from the start, you will find the historic wayside cross known as Croix Pourroy.
Keep in mind that there are more points of interest along the trail, including a cave entrance, information point, and another wilderness hut. Be sure to stay on the trail and respect the natural surroundings. Enjoy your hike on the Crête NW Grand Colon route!
