This extremely difficult hiking route takes you through the stunning landscape of Bogatin. With a total distance of 17.381 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1291 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart. It is estimated to take around 7 hours and 15 minutes to complete, so make sure you are prepared with plenty of water and snacks.
Starting at the parking area, you will begin your journey towards the first point of interest - the Dom Dr. Klementa Juga, which is a restaurant and alpine hut located just 0.03 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to fuel up before continuing on the trail.
As you make your way along the trail, you will come across the former border guard station of the Financial Guard, Nekdanja mejna stražnica Finančne straže, located 7.97 kilometers from the start. Further along, at the 6.24 kilometer mark, you will pass by the historic ruins of Gorska vojašnica Cesare Battisti.
Midway through the hike, at the 8.69 kilometer mark, you will reach the peak of Bogatin, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area. As you continue on, you will come across various other points of interest such as ruins, information points, and natural features like Mlaka na Planini Duplje.
It is important to note that there are several peaks along the trail that are not directly on the path, so be mindful of your surroundings and stay on the designated trail.
