This hiking route will take you to Mont Frech, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. The trail is an out-and-back type, so you'll retrace your steps on the way back. The total distance of the hike is 14.909 kilometers with an elevation gain of 207 meters, making it an extremely difficult route that will take approximately 4 hours to complete.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll pass by La Croix de Mounis, a historic wayside cross located right at the beginning of the trail. As you continue, you'll reach Col de la Croix de Mounis, a natural saddle, just a short distance from the start. Along the way, you'll also encounter viewpoints such as Les Suques and Mont Frech, where you can take in panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Midway through the hike, you'll come across Col de Ginestet, another natural saddle, providing a great resting spot to take in the scenery. Be sure to stop by the springs along the trail, including those at distances of 4.76 and 5.19 kilometers from the start, to refill your water supply. Benches are also available along the route for a quick break.
