Embalse de Itoiz / Itoizko Urtegia

This extremely difficult 12.124-kilometer out-and-back hiking route takes you through the stunning area surrounding Embalse de Itoiz / Itoizko Urtegia. The trail starts at the parking area located at the beginning of the route. As you begin your hike, you will pass by Alto de la Peña peak, which is 3.6 kilometers from the start.

Throughout the hike, be sure to stay hydrated and bring plenty of water, as this route is quite challenging with an elevation gain of 434 meters. As you make your way towards your destination, you will encounter various peaks such as Eskisun, Urdazkain, and Lamari, each offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

At the halfway point, around the 6.06-kilometer mark, you will reach Embalse de Itoiz / Itoizko Urtegia, a beautiful reservoir where you can take a break and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Be mindful of the distance from the trail to certain points of interest along the way, and be prepared for a strenuous but rewarding hike.
