This challenging hiking route, known as PR-M2, is a circular path with a total distance of 11.449 kilometers and an elevation gain of 834 meters. The estimated duration for this hike is around 4 hours and 44 minutes.
The trail starts at a picturesque location with the first point of interest, La Charca Verde, located approximately 1.79 kilometers from the beginning. This natural water feature offers a serene spot to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Along the way, hikers will come across Machacaderas parking area, which is right at the start of the trail, and Alta Montaña restaurant, which also provides a good resting point.
As you continue on the trail, you will encounter several peaks and natural landmarks. These include Fuente de las Zorras spring at 1.39 kilometers, followed by various peaks such as Las MIlaneras and other unnamed peaks, ranging from 1.85 to 5.36 kilometers from the start. These peaks offer stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area.
A noteworthy point of interest on the trail is the Cascada del Chivato waterfall, located at around 3.15 kilometers from the start. It's a great spot to take in the beauty of the cascading water and perhaps have a snack while enjoying the view.
For history enthusiasts, the Puerta de la Pedriza boundary stone, situated at 0.1 kilometers from the start, serves as a historical marker along the trail.
Given the length and elevation gain of the route, it is advised to bring an adequate supply of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on the hike.
