This challenging 11.862-kilometer out-and-back hiking route in the beautiful area of Poggio Selletto Grosso offers stunning views and diverse points of interest along the way. The trail has an elevation gain of 795 meters and is expected to take around 4 hours and 44 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area near the trailhead, hikers will soon come across the Bocchetto Sessera saddle, providing a picturesque spot to rest and take in the surroundings. About 2.95 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Locanda Bocchetto Sessera restaurant where you can refuel and recharge.
Further along the trail, at approximately 5.19 kilometers from the start, you'll encounter the Rifugio Piana del Ponte alpine hut, which is a great place to take a break and enjoy a meal. Nearby, there is also a picnic site named Druetto, perfect for a leisurely lunch surrounded by nature.
As you continue your journey, you'll pass by the Circolo Le Piane restaurant around 0.7 kilometers from the start, offering another opportunity to rest and grab a bite to eat. Additionally, there are designated drinking water points along the trail to help you stay hydrated.
Halfway through the hike, at 5.93 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the Poggio Selletto Grosso peak, which rewards you with panoramic views of the area. Make sure to visit the Capanna Volpi alpine hut located about 1.19 kilometers from the start for a true mountain experience.
Throughout the hike, you'll also come across informational points such as the Geoparco Valsessera and the Bosco del Sorriso, providing insights into the region's history and natural features.
