Welcome to the Lacs des Laouchets - Sentier Géologique hiking route, located in a stunning alpine area with breathtaking views and challenging terrain. This out-and-back route spans a distance of 13.657 kilometers and features an elevation gain of 1343 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers.
As you begin your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the trail. At the start, you will find a convenient parking area (0.3 km from the trail) to leave your vehicle before embarking on the adventure. The trail will lead you through diverse landscapes, including alpine huts and several water sources like Les Laouchets, offering opportunities to rest and hydrate along the way.
Midway through the hike, you will encounter the Refuge de Platé (4.13 km from the start), a cozy alpine hut where you can take a break, enjoy the views, and recharge before continuing your trek. Further along, you will reach the Col de la Portette (5.39 km from the start), a scenic saddle offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains.
As you trek towards the endpoint, take time to appreciate the Désert de Platé (6.3 km from the start), a unique geological site that adds a fascinating touch to the hike.
