This extremely difficult hiking route takes you on a 13.827-kilometer journey with an elevation gain of 1343 meters. The route starts at Les Laouchets and is an out-and-back trail.
As you begin your hike, you will pass by the Refuge de Platé, an alpine hut located 4.13 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to rest and refuel before continuing on your challenging journey. Along the way, you will encounter several water sources, such as Les Laouchets at 6.7 kilometers, and other water points at various distances from the trail.
Make sure to pack plenty of water and snacks as this hike will test your endurance. It is advisable to check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure, as the terrain can be challenging.
As you trek further, you will come across Col de la Portette at 5.39 kilometers, offering a stunning viewpoint of the surrounding area. Take some time to appreciate the beauty of the Désert de Platé at 6.3 kilometers and learn more about the area from the informational points scattered along the trail.
