This challenging hiking route takes you through the beautiful mountainous area surrounding Dom Petra Skalarja. The 10.41 km trail with an elevation gain of 1161.0 meters offers stunning views and a variety of points of interest along the way.
Starting at the parking area at the trailhead, you'll make your way towards the first point of interest, a historic ruins site located 2.84 km from the start. As you continue on the trail, you'll pass by a shelter called Bivak gorskih reševalcev at 2.25 km from the beginning, providing a nice rest stop for hikers.
Around the midway point of the hike at 5.21 km from the start, you'll reach Dom Petra Skalarja, an alpine hut where you can take a break, grab a meal, and enjoy the scenic surroundings. There is also a shelter located nearby for additional facilities.
Further along the trail, at 5.14 km from the start, you'll encounter the peak known as Kojnc, offering panoramic views of the area. Nearby, you'll also find the peaks of Mala Gnila glava and Velika Gnila glava to explore.
As you make your way back on the out-and-back route, be sure to stop by the Vodni vir spring at 1.1 km from the start for a refreshing break. Additionally, there are various other peaks and natural sites to admire, such as Kačarjeva glava, Glava nad Kraljiščem, and Glava nad Malim dolom along the way.
