This extremely difficult 14.586-kilometer circular hiking route will take you to the majestic Schafelkopf peak. The trail begins at the parking lot, where you can leave your vehicle for a fee. As you start your journey, make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks as this hike will challenge even the most experienced hikers.

About 4.52 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy some quick sustenance at the fast-food joint nearby. Further along the trail at around 4.5 kilometers, you'll find a natural water source to refill your water bottles.

As you continue on, be prepared for a steep elevation gain of 1216 meters, passing by informative signs and wayside shrines along the way. Around 6.52 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach a saddle area with more information about the surroundings.

Midway through the hike at 6.45 kilometers, you'll have the opportunity to veer off the trail slightly to reach the Breitkopf peak for a stunning panoramic view. Then, at 6.73 kilometers, you'll reach the highlight of the hike - the Schafelkopf peak, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

On your way back, you'll pass by more informative signs, benches for resting, and another water source at around 3.16 kilometers, ensuring you stay hydrated throughout the journey.

Before embarking on this challenging hike, make sure to check the weather forecast and pack accordingly. With its lengthy distance and significant elevation gain, this hike is not for the faint-hearted. However, the stunning views and sense of accomplishment at reaching the Schafelkopf peak make it a truly rewarding experience for avid hikers.
