This hiking route takes you through a beautiful area with stunning viewpoints and historic sites. The trail is 6.484 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 334 meters, making it of moderate difficulty. The estimated duration for this hike is around 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll first come across a parking area before heading towards Lagoa do Calhau de São Jorge, a picturesque water feature located right at the beginning of the hike. As you continue, you'll pass by Fontanário do Granel, where you can refill your water bottle.
Further along the trail, you'll reach Minimercado A Parada, a convenient stop for a snack or rest. Nearby, you'll find Miradouro das Eiras, offering a spectacular viewpoint to take in the surrounding landscape. Make sure to also explore the ruins of ponte da ribeira de são jorge and the memorial Busto de Homenagem ao Padre Geraldo de Sousa along the way.
Towards the end of the hike, you'll encounter Fontenário Fajã Alta, a waterfall that provides a refreshing sight and a perfect spot to cool off. The trail also passes by Cabeço da Vigia, a peak that offers breathtaking views of the area.
