This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route on D 117 spans a distance of approximately 13.688 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1402 meters. The total duration of the hike is estimated to be around 6 hours and 40 minutes.

The trail starts at a parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on this challenging journey. As you make your way along the route, you will encounter various points of interest. About 2.7 kilometers from the start, you'll come across a prominent rock formation. Further along the trail, at approximately 6.84 kilometers from the beginning, you'll find a memorial called Monument aux Morts. Nearby, there is a fountain and an information point named L'Église where you can learn more about the area.

Throughout the hike, you'll be treated to stunning views and natural scenery. Be sure to bring an ample water supply, as this is a long and strenuous trek. It is also recommended to check the weather forecast before setting out, as conditions can change rapidly in mountainous regions.

At the halfway point, around 6.84 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter a rock formation located directly on the trail. This can serve as a good resting spot before you continue on your journey. Additionally, there are several information points and viewpoints along the way where you can take a break and learn more about your surroundings.

As you approach the end of the trail, you'll pass by a bench where you can take a moment to rest and admire the beauty of the Parc national des Écrins. Finally, the route concludes back at the starting point, where you can reflect on the challenging but rewarding experience you've just completed.
