This hiking route will take you through the beautiful area surrounding Refuge du Saut. The trail is 12.298 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 419.0 meters, making it extremely difficult and challenging, but rewarding for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will come across Lac de Tuéda, located just 0.5 kilometers from the trail. This picturesque lake provides a serene setting for a quick rest stop before continuing on. About 0.63 kilometers from the start, you will find Maison de la Réserve, an information center where you can learn more about the area's wildlife and conservation efforts.
Further along the trail, at around 3.89 kilometers from the start, you will find a drinking water station to refill your water bottles and stay hydrated during your hike. As you approach the midway point, at 4.42 kilometers from the start, you will come across Lac des Fées, another stunning lake surrounded by lush greenery.
Continuing on, at 6.15 kilometers from the start, you will reach Refuge du Saut, an alpine hut where you can take a break, enjoy a meal, and perhaps spend the night if you're planning a multi-day hike. Nearby, there is also a picnic site for a scenic lunch spot.
For those driving to the trailhead, there is a parking area located right at the beginning of the trail, so you can easily access the start of your hike. Additionally, Refuge du Plan is another alpine hut located 1.31 kilometers from the start, offering accommodation and amenities for hikers.
Before embarking on this challenging hike, make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
