Starting at THW Duisburg-Hannoverweg, the trail begins with a parking area conveniently located at the trailhead. As you make your way along the path, you will come across a water source about 5.68 kilometers into the hike, perfect for refilling your water bottle. Further along the trail at 5.59 kilometers, you will find the Hagener Hütte alpine hut, a great spot to rest and take in the surrounding views.
At the 4-kilometer mark, you will encounter another water source, followed by the historic Tauernkreuz wayside cross at 4.26 kilometers. As you continue on, you will reach the Niederer Tauern saddle at 5.57 kilometers, providing a unique natural feature to explore.
Throughout the hike, you will also come across informative signposts and benches at various points, offering insights into the area and opportunities to take breaks.
