Located in a stunning alpine region, the hiking route to Hochgrubbachspitz - Monte Gruppo offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers. With a total distance of 13.857 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1310 meters, this route is classified as extremely difficult, so be prepared for a strenuous journey.
Beginning at Parkplatz Winnebachtal, hikers will traverse through diverse landscapes, including lush forests and rocky terrains. Along the trail, you will encounter various points of interest. Approximately 5.3 kilometers from the start, you will reach Tiefrastensee - Lago della Pausa, a picturesque lake where you can take a moment to rest and admire the surroundings.
As you continue your ascent, you will pass by Tiefrastenhütte, an alpine hut and restaurant located 5.26 kilometers from the trailhead. This is a great spot to refuel and recharge before tackling the remaining distance to the summit. Keep an eye out for Astnerbergalm, another alpine hut, situated 1.6 kilometers from the start, offering a cozy retreat for hikers.
At around 6.93 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the peak of Hochgrubbachspitz - Monte Gruppo, where you can revel in panoramic views of the alpine landscape. On your way back, make sure to visit Hexenstein, a mysterious rock formation located 0.98 kilometers from the starting point, adding an element of intrigue to your journey.
Throughout the hike, you may also encounter historical ruins and natural attractions, such as Hohe Säge - Forcella Sega Alta saddle and Steinmännchen.
