This hiking route takes you through the picturesque area around Monticchio. The trail is 2.933 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 283 meters, making it a moderate difficulty hike. It is an out-and-back route, so you will retrace your steps on the way back.
As you start your hike, you will come across a parking area just 0.09 kilometers from the trailhead. This is a convenient spot to leave your vehicle before starting the hike. Nearby, at the same distance, you will find the Bocchetto Sessera saddle, a lovely natural feature to admire.
About 0.09 kilometers into the hike, you will also find the Locanda Bocchetto Sessera restaurant, where you can stop for a break and enjoy some local cuisine. Just a bit further at 0.11 kilometers, there is a drinking water point to refill your bottle.
As you continue on the trail, at 0.09 kilometers, you will pass by a viewpoint offering stunning vistas of the surroundings. Further along, at 1.47 kilometers, you will reach the Monticchio peak, a beautiful natural landmark that offers breathtaking views from the top.
Along the way, you will also come across Geoparco Valsessera information point at 0.09 kilometers, followed by Bosco del Sorriso: Entrata information point at 0.22 kilometers, offering valuable insights about the area.
Before turning back, at 0.25 kilometers, you will encounter the Memorial Partigiani caduti, a historic memorial honoring fallen partisans. It is a somber reminder of the area's rich history.
