This extremely difficult 12.036-kilometer circular hike to Ochsenkopf offers breathtaking views and a challenging adventure for experienced hikers. The trail starts at a parking area where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on this journey.
As you begin your hike, you'll pass by the Reitbichlhütte wilderness hut, offering a glimpse of rural charm right at the start of your adventure. Further along the trail, about 5.12 kilometers in, you'll reach "Am Übergang," a saddle point where you can take a moment to rest and take in the surrounding natural beauty.
Continuing on, you'll encounter the historic castle and peak of Ochsenkopf at around 5.81 kilometers into the hike. These landmarks provide a perfect opportunity to explore the area's rich history and enjoy panoramic views from the summit.
Throughout the hike, you'll come across various points of interest, such as the Wallfahrtseinkehr St. Georgenberg restaurant, wayside shrines, benches, and informational points. These stops offer insights into the local culture and provide rest spots for weary hikers.
