This hike to Cima della Crocetta is an extremely difficult 14-kilometer out-and-back route that will challenge even experienced hikers. The trail features a total elevation gain of 1192 meters and is estimated to take around 6 hours and 13 minutes to complete.
Starting at the trailhead, you will come across "Il Pirata", a bar located right at the beginning of the hike. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick bite or drink before heading out. As you continue on, approximately 5.38 kilometers into the hike, you will find a natural water source where you can refill your water bottles.
Around the halfway point, at 6.22 kilometers into the hike, you will reach "Colle della Crocetta", a stunning saddle offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail, at 6.6 kilometers, you will come across "Colle della Terra Fertà", another picturesque saddle to rest and take in the views.
As you near the end of the hike, at 7 kilometers, you will reach the summit of "Cima della Crocetta", a peak that offers breathtaking views of the entire region. This is the perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the beauty of the Italian Alps.
Throughout the hike, you will also come across various points of interest such as information points, a wayside shrine, and even a campsite for those looking to stay overnight in the great outdoors. Additionally, "La tana dell'orco" restaurant is located right at the end of the trail, where you can refuel with a hearty meal after your challenging hike.
Due to the length and elevation gain of this hike, it is important to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, proper hiking gear, and to check the weather forecast before setting out. This hike is not recommended for beginners and requires a good level of fitness and hiking experience.
