This challenging hiking route will take you on a 9.875-kilometer circular journey to the summit of Thaurer Jochspitze, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. The total elevation gain is 971 meters, so be prepared for a strenuous climb.
Starting at the parking area, you will follow the trail towards the summit. Along the way, you will pass by several points of interest. At about 4.13 kilometers from the start, you will come across the memorials of Ernst Kogl and Michael Bennat, adding a historical touch to your hike. Further along the trail at 4.18 kilometers, you will reach Stempeljoch, a saddle point offering a great resting spot.
As you continue your ascent, you will encounter informational markers such as the Toni Renk memorial at 4.13 kilometers and the information point at 3.85 kilometers, providing insights into the area's history and nature. Stay hydrated by refilling your water at the drinking water point located at 1.78 kilometers into the hike.
The trail will lead you past peaks like Pfeiserspitze and Thaurer Jochspitze, offering panoramic views of the landscape. Be sure to check out the shelter facility at 1.07 kilometers for a rest stop before your final push to the summit.
