Located in the scenic Johnston Canyon, the Johnston Canyon Trail is an easy out-and-back route that stretches for 2.739 kilometers with an elevation gain of 75 meters, making it perfect for hikers of all levels.
Starting at the trailhead, you will first come across the Johnston Canyon parking area, situated just 0.05 kilometers away. Further along the trail, at the very beginning, there is another parking section with a fee. As you continue, you will reach the Bridges at Johnston Canyon Resort, a great spot to grab a snack or meal just 0.02 kilometers from the start.
One of the highlights of the hike is the Lower Falls, a picturesque waterfall that sits at the 1.06-kilometer mark. You can also enjoy a viewpoint of the Lower Falls at the same location. Another waterfall, the Lower Falls, can be found midway through the trail at 1.14 kilometers, providing a refreshing sight.
Throughout the trail, you will encounter various benches and information points, approximately every 0.41 to 0.87 kilometers, offering opportunities to rest and learn more about the area's wildlife and landscape. Remember, it's important not to feed the animals you may encounter along your journey, as emphasized by one of the information points at the 0.87-kilometer mark.
For a delicious meal post-hike, you can head to the Blackswift Bistro Johnston Canyon, located just 0.12 kilometers from the trailhead.
