Hiking : Vorderer Schmied

This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you through the stunning alpine region of Vorderer Schmied. With a total distance of 13.209 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1148 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart.

Starting at the parking area, make sure to check the forecast before embarking on this adventure. The trail will lead you past various points of interest, including a picturesque alpine hut called Weißkugelhütte - Rifugio Pio XI alla Palla Bianca, located approximately 4.7 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to take a break and refuel before continuing on your journey.

As you trek further along the path, you'll come across the Adlerkopf peak at around 6.48 kilometers from the start, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to stay hydrated and pack enough water for this challenging hike.

About midway through the route, you'll find a cozy cafe called Evi's Hittl, situated just 0.03 kilometers from the trail. This is a perfect place to rest and recharge before heading back.

Towards the end of the hike, at approximately 6.6 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the Vorderer Schmied peak, a rewarding endpoint offering stunning views of the alpine scenery. Take your time to soak in the beauty of your surroundings before starting your journey back.

Throughout the trail, you'll also encounter informative signposts and benches for resting, as well as wayside crosses adding a touch of historical charm to your hike.
