This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding Puig de les Eres. The trail is 3.433 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 339 meters, making it of moderate difficulty. It will take approximately 1 hour and 38 minutes to complete.
As you begin your hike, you will pass by a parking area just 4 meters away from the trail. At the start of the trail, you will also come across the Coll de Banyuls viewpoint, giving you a stunning panoramic view of the surroundings. Continuing on, you will reach the Coll de Banyuls saddle, a natural formation that is perfect for a quick rest and photo opportunity.
Further along the trail, you will encounter several points of interest, including the Refugi del Coll de Banyuls wilderness hut, which is 16 meters away from the trail and offers a cozy resting place for hikers. Additionally, you will find information points and historic landmarks such as the Borne frontière 591 boundary stone and various memorials.
Midway through the hike, you will reach the Puig de les Eres peak, which is 1.72 kilometers from the start of the trail. This is a great spot to take in the breathtaking views and enjoy a well-deserved break. Make sure to visit the nearby spring, located just 20 meters away from the trail, to refill your water bottles.
As this route is an out-and-back trail, you will retrace your steps on the way back, giving you a chance to appreciate the scenery from a different perspective.
