This hiking route takes you through the stunning landscape surrounding Rifugio Cesare Benigni. The trail is a circular route with a total distance of 6.882 kilometers and an elevation gain of 747 meters, making it a difficult hike suitable for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will pass by parking areas where you can leave your vehicle before hitting the trail. Along the way, you will come across various points of interest. At approximately 3.1 kilometers into the hike, you will find a natural water source and the beautiful Lago Piazzotti. Make sure to refill your water supplies here before continuing on the trail.
About 1.77 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the Sorgente di Val Tronella, another refreshing water source to rest and rejuvenate. As you approach the 2.82-kilometer mark, be sure to visit the viewpoint for a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings.
Midway through the hike, at 3.01 kilometers, you will reach Rifugio Cesare Benigni, an alpine hut where you can take a break, enjoy a meal, and even stay overnight if you wish. The hut offers amenities such as a phone (+39 0345 89033) and specified opening hours during different months.
For a challenging adventure, you can make a detour to Rocca di Pescegallo, a peak located 2.22 kilometers from the trail. However, please note that this detour is off the main trail.
