This hiking route will take you to the beautiful Cima Ghilié / Cime Guilié in the Mercantour National Park. The trail is an out-and-back type with a total distance of 11.458 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1173 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 5 hours and 35 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area located at the trailhead, you will begin your journey towards the summit. Along the way, you will pass by several points of interest. About 1.56 kilometers from the start, you will come across an information point where you can learn more about the flora, fauna, and history of the area.
Continuing on, at around 4.19 kilometers from the start, you will reach Col du Mercantour Ouest / Colle del Mercantour Ovest, a saddle that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Further ahead, at 4.44 kilometers from the start, you will encounter Col du Guilié / Colle est del Mercantour, another saddle with breathtaking vistas.
As you ascend towards the summit, you will come across Lac Guillè, a picturesque lake located approximately 5.36 kilometers from the start. Take a moment to rest and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings before continuing on your journey.
Finally, at 5.73 kilometers from the start, you will reach the highlight of the hike - Cima Ghilié / Cime Guilié, a stunning peak with sweeping views of the Mercantour National Park. Take some time to soak in the beauty of the landscape before retracing your steps back to the trailhead.
