This hiking route takes you through the scenic area of Colony Trail, offering a super easy hike with a distance of 1.244 kilometers and an elevation gain of 34 meters. The trail starts at the Bennachie Information Centre, located just 0.03 kilometers from the beginning of the route.
As you follow the trail, you will come across a parking area at the start of the hike, ensuring easy access for hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water as you will find a water source approximately 0.53 kilometers into the hike.
Along the way, you may encounter the archaeological site of The Gouk Stone, located 0.5 kilometers from the start of the trail. Although not directly on the trail, this historical site offers a glimpse into the area's rich past.
Before heading out, be sure to check the weather forecast and wear appropriate footwear for the terrain. Parking spaces with a fee are available at various points along the route, providing convenience for visitors.
Keep an eye out for informational boards scattered throughout the trail, providing insight into the local flora, fauna, and history of the area. At the end of your hike, you will find yourself back at the trailhead, completing the circular route of Colony Trail.
