The hiking route in the area of El Hipopótamo - Senda Maeso offers a moderate challenge with a distance of 5.367 kilometers and an elevation gain of 379 meters. The trail is an out-and-back type, allowing hikers to explore the beauty of the surroundings.
As you start your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the trail. At the beginning, you will find "El Jardón de las Delicias," a pub where you can grab a bite to eat before heading out. Further along, you will pass by "Placas Musgogénesis," a natural rock formation 1.15 kilometers from the start.
Midway through your hike, you will encounter "Placas de las Nueve" and "Placas del Emilio," both rock formations providing a scenic view of the area. These are located 0.91 and 1.07 kilometers from the start, respectively.
As you continue on, you will reach "Cueva del Diente," a cave entrance 1.07 kilometers from the start, offering a unique experience for adventurers.
Towards the end of the trail, you will find "El Hipopótamo," a rock formation also known as the endpoint of the route. This landmark is located 2.68 kilometers from the start and marks the perfect spot to unwind and take in the beautiful surroundings.
