This challenging 7.448-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through the stunning area surrounding Sasso Mattolino. With an elevation gain of 781 meters, this hike is considered difficult and is estimated to take around 3 hours and 40 minutes to complete. As you start your journey, you'll come across the picturesque Monumento ai caduti, a historic monument that marks the beginning of the trail. Approximately 2.01 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach Monte La Porta, a peak offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness. Further along the trail at 2.25 kilometers, you'll encounter the Bocchetta di Cavedo, a natural saddle known for its unique geological features.
Around the midway point of the hike, at 3.16 kilometers, you'll find the majestic Cima di Cavedo peak. Continuing on, at 3.3 kilometers, you'll have the option to explore the via ferrata for a thrilling adventure. As you approach 3.4 kilometers, the Cima di Dasio peak will come into view, offering a rewarding sight for your efforts.
At 3.46 kilometers, you'll reach the stunning Sasso Mattolino peak, the destination of this remarkable hike. Take in the panoramic views before making your way back along the trail. Along the way, you'll pass by various drinking water sources and wilderness huts like Bivacco Baitello Casis, providing essential amenities for hikers.
Before concluding your hike, take a moment to appreciate the wayside shrine Madonna col bambino and the wayside cross, adding a touch of historic charm to the trail.
