Welcome to the hiking route to Montorroio!
This challenging out-and-back trail spans approximately 9.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1145 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding trek for experienced hikers. The estimated duration for this hike is around 5 hours.
The trail begins at the parking area, located at the start of the route. Make sure to bring plenty of water, as this hike does not offer any water sources along the way. It's also recommended to check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure.
As you start your journey, you will come across informational points at the beginning of the trail, providing you with insights about the area. Around 0.4 kilometers into the hike, you'll encounter the ruins of historic sites, adding a touch of mystery to your exploration.
Further along the trail, at approximately 3.2 kilometers from the start, you'll find a peaceful water spot where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings. At 1.5 kilometers from the start, you will discover more ruins, adding to the historical charm of the trail.
Heading towards the peak of Montorroio, you'll pass by Collada de Coma Plana, a beautiful natural saddle point located 3.5 kilometers from the start. As you continue, you'll reach Montorroio peak itself at 4.8 kilometers from the beginning, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Throughout the hike, you'll also encounter various peaks and saddle points, each providing unique perspectives of the area. Be sure to take your time and soak in the beauty of the natural surroundings.
As you make your way back, the descent will test your endurance, so be cautious with your footing. Remember to leave no trace and respect the natural environment as you complete this challenging yet fulfilling hike to Montorroio.
