This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Schwarze Wand - Croda Nera peak in the picturesque area. The trail covers a total distance of 18.269 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1870 meters, making it a challenging trek suitable for experienced hikers. It is advisable to set aside approximately 8 hours and 54 minutes to complete the hike.

As you begin your journey, you will come across a parking area, located right at the trailhead, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the adventure. About 6.24 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter the serene Gänsebichlsee and another water feature approximately 6.23 kilometers into the trail. These natural beauties offer a perfect spot to rest and take in the surrounding landscape.

Along the route, at 6.38 kilometers, you will find the Rieserfernerhütte Rif. Vedrette di Ries alpine hut, where you can refuel and recharge before continuing your ascent. Additionally, landmarks such as the Klammbachfall waterfall (1.6 km from the start) and the Wasserfallblick viewpoint (1.59 km from the start) provide captivating views worth exploring.

Further into the hike, at around 8.62 kilometers, you will reach the Mühlbacher Jöchl - Giogo di Riomolino saddle and the Gemsbichljoch - Forcella Valfredda saddle at 6.21 kilometers. These points offer a perspective of the surrounding terrain and are ideal spots for a brief break.

As you approach the endpoint, you will encounter the Schwarze Wand - Croda Nera peak at 9.13 kilometers. This breathtaking summit rewards hikers with panoramic views of the region, making the challenging journey well worth the effort.
