This challenging hike to Hochgasser offers stunning views and diverse landscapes. Starting at the parking space, you'll traverse 11.793 kilometers with an elevation gain of 935 meters.
As you begin your journey, you'll pass by the Grausee, a picturesque water body located 2.88 kilometers from the start. Further along the trail at 2.09 kilometers, you'll encounter the Schwarzsee, another beautiful lake. Make sure to refill your water supply at these points as the next water source, Grünsee, is slightly off the trail at 1.48 kilometers from the start.
Around 1.21 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across the Grünseehütte wilderness hut, a perfect spot for a rest before continuing on. At 1.39 kilometers, you'll find a tranquil water feature to enjoy. Additionally, benches are available for a brief break at 1.43 kilometers into the hike.
As you progress, the trail leads you to the Messelingscharte saddle at 3.13 kilometers, offering a unique vantage point of the surrounding area. The Alter Tauern saddle follows shortly after at 4.4 kilometers, providing a different perspective of the landscape.
