This extremely difficult hiking route takes you on an out-and-back journey along Via Mottarone, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. Starting at the parking area, you will begin your adventure with a gradual ascent.
Along the way, you will pass by the Lavatoio di Granerolo, a historic attraction that offers a glimpse into the area's past. As you continue, you will come across the Fontana Speranza, where you can take a moment to rest and refill your water bottle.
Further ahead, at the midway point, you will reach Alpe Nuovo, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the scenic surroundings. From here, the trail continues to climb steadily, offering panoramic viewpoints of the area.
As you make your way back, be sure to stop by the Ippopotamo rock formation and the Madonna del Carmelo wayside shrine. These unique landmarks add to the character of the hike and provide interesting photo opportunities.
Throughout the hike, be prepared for challenging terrain and steep inclines, with a total distance of 16.731 kilometers and an elevation gain of 971 meters.
