This challenging 8-kilometer circular hiking route, known as the "99 - Sentier du Vuacheret," offers stunning views and a variety of points of interest along the way.
The trail starts at a parking area near the trailhead. As you begin your hike, you'll pass by the Chalet du Souay, an information point about 1.66 kilometers from the start. Further along the trail, at around 2.18 kilometers, you'll find another information point marked as "98."
Around the midway point of the hike, at 3.56 kilometers, you'll reach the Refuge Le Châtelet d'Ayères, an alpine hut open from May to September where you can take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings. Nearby at the same distance, there also is a water source for refilling your bottles.
As you continue on, you'll come across more information points such as "Le Gouet" at 0.57 kilometers and "99" at 3.56 kilometers. At 1.47 kilometers, you'll find another informational point.
Near the end of the trail, at 0.26 kilometers, there is an information point called "Les Cornes," though it is slightly off the trail.
This hike is considered difficult due to its 554-meter elevation gain and the length of the trail. It's essential to bring enough water, wear appropriate footwear, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure.
