This challenging 8-kilometer circular hiking route, known as the "Sentier du Vuacheret", offers breathtaking views and varied terrain in the picturesque area.
Starting off at the trailhead, you'll find parking available at the beginning of the route. As you make your way through the trail, approximately 1.66 kilometers from the start, you'll come across the Chalet du Souay where you can take a break and gather some information about the area.
Continuing on, at around 3.56 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach the Refuge Le Châtelet d'Ayères, an alpine hut where you can rest and maybe even spend the night during the hiking season. Approximately 3.56 kilometers from the start, you'll also find information points such as "99" and "Le Gouet" along the way where you can learn more about the surroundings.
Around the midway point of the hike, at 3.56 kilometers from the start, there is a water source to refill your bottles and stay hydrated. As you approach the end of the route, at 2.18 kilometers from the start, you'll encounter another information point labeled as "98".
The trail's highest point, Les Cornes, located at a distance of 0.26 kilometers from the start, offers stunning panoramic views, although it is not directly on the trail. It is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging hike.
