This extremely difficult 10.695-kilometer hike to Mutschen offers stunning views and challenging terrain for experienced hikers. The route starts at Nasseel parking area and winds through the alpine landscape.
At the beginning of the trail, hikers will pass by the Roslenalphütte alpine hut, a great spot to rest and take in the surroundings. As you continue, you'll encounter peaks like Kreuzberg I, II, III, VI, VII, and VIII. These peaks offer panoramic views of the area but are off the main trail, so hikers looking for an extra challenge can venture off to explore them.
Midway through the hike, you'll reach the Mutschen-Sattel, another point of interest along the trail. Here, you can take a break and enjoy the scenery before pushing on towards Mutschen.
Towards the end of the trail, you'll come across the Saxerlücke, a saddle point offering majestic views of the surrounding peaks. As you head back, be sure to stop by the Felsenfenster cave entrance for a unique natural feature experience.
With an elevation gain of 1304 meters, this hike requires good physical condition and proper gear. Be prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and layers as the weather can change quickly in the alpine region.
