This hiking route will take you to the beautiful area of Croce di Monte Penna. The trail is an out-and-back type, covering a distance of 4.413 kilometers with an elevation gain of 381 meters, making it a moderate difficulty hike.
Starting at the trailhead, you will pass by various points of interest along the way. About 2.15 kilometers from the start, you will reach Colle di Monte Penna, a natural saddle that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail at 2.02 kilometers, you will come across Buca delle Fate di Monte Penna, a cave entrance nestled in the mountainside.
As you continue your hike, you will encounter Buca sotto la Penna di Cardoso, another cave entrance located 1.4 kilometers from the start, although it is slightly off the main trail. Be sure to stay on the designated path to reach this point of interest.
Along the way, you will also find parking areas, information points, picnic sites, and a viewpoint named Croce di Monte Penna at 2.21 kilometers from the start. This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the area and is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery.
